Monserrate

Monserrate

Situated in the mountains more than 3,100 meters above sea level, Monserrate was built by the Spanish in 1640 to serve as a small chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Monserrat. Today it’s one of the most famous attractions in Bogotá. By day you will enjoy dramatic views of the city and lush surrounding mountains. In the evening the view of the beautifully illuminated church and sparkling Bogotá skyline is truly unforgettable. Be sure to visit the famous Restaurante Casa San Isidro, which is known as much for its elegance as its superb cuisine.
